About Spinel
Spinel is a magnesium aluminium oxide found in red, pink, purple, blue and grey. It was long mistaken for ruby, and some famous red stones in old crown jewels have turned out to be spinel.

- Treatments: Spinel is usually untreated, though heating is sometimes used; ask us for the lab report on any stone to see its treatment.
- Care: Wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush; it is hard and tough enough for everyday wear.
