  2. No ring? Use paper: wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in millimetres. That is your finger's circumference.
  3. Measure twice: do it at the end of the day, when fingers are a little larger, and avoid very cold hands.

Tips for the right fit

  • Knuckles: the ring must slide over your knuckle. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, choose a size between the two.
  • Wide bands: a wide band or a signet ring feels tighter, so many people go half a size up.
  • Between sizes: pick the larger one. A ring can be made slightly smaller more easily than larger.

Turquoise is an opaque copper aluminium phosphate in sky blue to green, often with brown or black veins called matrix. It is porous and fairly soft, so it needs gentle handling.
