About Jade
Jade is the name for two different minerals, jadeite and nephrite, both very tough thanks to their tightly interlocking grains or fibres. Green is best known, but jade also comes in white, lavender and black.

- Hardness: 6–7 on the Mohs scale
- Main sources: Myanmar (Burma), Guatemala, Canada, China, New Zealand, Russia
- Treatments: Some jadeite is bleached and polymer-filled (B jade) or dyed (C jade); ask us for the lab report on any piece to see its treatment.
- Care: Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, and avoid ultrasonic cleaners for any treated jade.
