What doublet means here
A doublet is not a solid opal, and we want that to be clear before you buy. The top layer you see is natural Australian opal, and the dark layer beneath is the backing it is bonded to.
Caring for a doublet
Do not soak this stone in water, because the bond between the layers can weaken. Take it off before swimming, bathing or washing up.
To clean it, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. If you set it in a ring or pendant, a bezel that covers the edge helps protect the join.
