About Navratna (Nine Gemstones)
Navratna is a traditional set of nine gemstones: ruby, pearl, red coral, emerald, yellow sapphire, diamond, blue sapphire, hessonite and cat's eye. The nine are set together in one piece of jewellery.
- Mineral: Set of nine gemstones
- Hardness: Varies by stone on the Mohs scale
- Main sources: Varies by stone; see each gemstone's page
- Treatments: Each stone in a navratna piece can carry its own common treatment, such as heated sapphire or dyed coral; ask us for the lab reports on the stones in any piece.
- Care: Clean gently with a soft damp cloth, as the set mixes hard gems with soft pearl and coral that dislike chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.
