About Ruby (Manik)
Ruby is the red variety of corundum, coloured by chromium, in shades from pinkish red to deep red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is one of the hardest gems after diamond, so it suits daily wear.

- Treatments: Most rubies on the market are heated to improve colour, and some are glass-filled; ask us for the lab report on any stone to see its treatment.
- Care: Wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners for any glass-filled stone.
