About Aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue to greenish blue variety of beryl, coloured by iron. It often forms large, clean crystals, so eye-clean stones in bigger sizes are widely available.
- Mineral: Beryl
- Hardness: 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale
- Main sources: Brazil, Nigeria, Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Zambia
- Treatments: Many aquamarines are heated to remove green tones and leave a purer blue; ask us for the lab report on any stone to see its treatment.
- Care: Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and avoid hard knocks and sudden heat.
Buying from Raza Gems: in Dubai since 2005, lab reports on major stones, 7-day returns and insured worldwide shipping.
